4/16-17: River R.A.T.s Volunteer Training, Bozeman

Join the River R.A.T.s (River Restoration Action Team) and help restore streams and wetlands in the Gallatin Valley! This is the perfect opportunity for hands-on volunteers who want to make a real difference while building skills in ecological restoration.

A one-day in-person training is required. Join us on April 16, 4:30-7:30 p.m. or April 17, 1-4:00 p.m. The backup date is April 18, 1-4:30 p.m.

4/24: Restoration Thursday: Revegetation, 1-4:30 p.m., West Winds Neighborhood

Join us for a hands-on afternoon of revegetation work! Help harvest willows that will be staked at a GWC restoration site this spring. Get your hands dirty, give back to nature, and be part of an effort to restore vital ecosystems.

4/25: Arbor Day, 12-3 p.m., Oak Springs Park

Celebrate Arbor Day with the City of Bozeman and Gallatin Watershed Council by planting trees at Oak Springs Park! This event is under the canopy of Branch Out Bozeman, an urban tree-planting initiative.

4/29: Inaugural Riparian Walk, 7-8:30 a.m., Story Mill Community Park

This free monthly educational series is designed to foster curiosity and increase ecological awareness in people of all ages. We’ll explore the thriving riparian habitat, wetland restoration efforts, floodplain reconnectivity and spy on wildlife.

5/8: Bozeman Dog Poop Cleanup, 4:00-6:00 pm, Greater Bozeman Area

Join us in cleaning our furry friends’ #2 across the Lower Gallatin Watershed before our favorite trails get busy and spring showers wash harmful nutrients into our rivers and streams. This event is hosted in partnership with Outside Kind and the Gallatin Valley Land Trust.

5/17: Spring Gallatin Watershed Cleanup, Lower Gallatin Watershed

Help us clean up our watershed and prevent harmful waste from washing into our waterways! Our annual Gallatin Watershed Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., followed by a volunteer celebration with food, drinks, and prizes at 5:00 p.m.

June-September: Weekly Tree Watering

Newly planted trees need your help to survive their first years in a new place! This is a self-volunteer opportunity that can take place at anytime. Locations include: Gallatin County Regional Park, Mandeville Creek at Bozeman High School, Lewis and Bark Dog Park, and McLeod Park.

6/11: Water Treatment Plant Annual Tour, 1-2:30 p.m., Bozeman

Are you curious about where your drinking water comes from and how it gets treated? Then grab your water bottles and join us on an exciting tour of Bozeman's Water Treatment Plant!

This cleanup event is hosted with the Gallatin River Task Force, which stewards the Upper Gallatin Watershed.

1/7: Water Policy and Pints, 5:30-7:30 p.m., MAP Brewing

Who wouldn’t want to talk water policy over beers? Join us for an evening at MAP where we’ll focus on engagement opportunities and how to give water a seat at the table in the City of Bozeman’s update of the Unified Development Code (UDC). The UDC is a comprehensive set of regulations that governs land use and development decisions, which impact wetlands, streams, riparian areas, and irrigation ditches. Let’s get together and let the City know they should make water a priority.
